By the Numbers
Juan Luis Londoño Arias writes on every one of the 17 tracks, which is not the usual shape of a label debut cut by an 18 year old. The weight next to him falls on two studio partners: Bryan Snaider Lezcano Chaverra, who records as Chan El Genio, on 14 tracks, and Kevin Mauricio Jiménez Londoño, who records as Kevin ADG, on 13. Outside writers barely appear. Piso 21 bring four of their own names to "Correr el Riesgo", Sebastián Sánchez Cardona turns up once on "Farandulera", and Mateo Tejada once on "Me Gusta Todo de Ti". The credit sheet reads like one room working through a stack of songs rather than a label assembling writers around a new signing.
Maluma made his first album in Medellín at 18, working with the small circle of producers who would stay with him for the next decade. The Rude Boyz, Young Crunk and Ily Wonder built most of it on plain reggaeton drums and sung hooks, and he took a writing credit on all 17 tracks. Sony Music Colombia released it on 7 August 2012, by which point four of its singles had already been out. ACINPRO certified it gold in Colombia.
