Data Insight

Recovery is Eminem's reflective comeback after his struggles with addiction, with Eminem writing his own raps and a broad production team including Dr. Dre, Alex da Kid, Just Blaze, and Boi-1da. It was the best-selling album in the world in 2010, led by two number-one singles.

Recovery is the seventh studio album by Eminem, released in June 2010 on Aftermath/Interscope Records and produced by a wider range of collaborators including Alex da Kid, Just Blaze, Boi-1da, and DJ Khalil. It represents the most stylistically diverse expansion in Eminem's catalog and, in terms of commercial performance, his biggest-selling record since The Marshall Mathers LP. Eminem wrote all lyrics; the album largely abandons the Slim Shady persona and serial-killer narrative mode in favor of direct autobiographical material about his addiction, recovery, the death of Proof, and his reconstruction of his personal and professional life, a tonal shift that brought him closer to confessional hip-hop than any previous release. 'Not Afraid' and 'Love the Way You Lie' (featuring Rihanna) were the principal singles; 'Love the Way You Lie' spent seven weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and became the first Eminem collaboration to dominate pop radio in the way that his own singles had a decade earlier. Recovery debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and sold over 741,000 copies in its first week in the United States alone, the best first-week sales figure for any Eminem album. The album has been certified nine-times platinum in the United States and won the Grammy for Best Rap Album.
