The Story

Pierre David Guetta (born November 7, 1967, in Paris, France) is a French DJ, record producer, and songwriter whose career spans four decades and whose output has defined the sound of mainstream electronic dance music for much of the 2000s and 2010s. He began working as a club DJ in Parisian nightclubs in the 1980s, including residencies that shaped his ear for crowd-focused house music, and he started releasing records under his own name in 2002 with the French house-influenced debut Just a Little More Love. His global breakthrough came with One Love (2009), which produced the worldwide hits 'Sexy Bitch' (featuring Akon) and 'When Love Takes Over' (featuring Kelly Rowland) and established a template (electronic production built around A-list pop and hip-hop features) that he refined through Nothing but the Beat (2011) and Listen (2014). Guetta is one of the most decorated DJs in the world, ranking number one on the DJ Mag Top 100 in 2011, 2020, 2021, 2023, and 2025. As a songwriter, his contribution is primarily compositional and as a producer, he typically co-writes the music while featured vocalists handle lyrics, though he carries writing credits on many tracks. His catalog shows a consistent co-writing partnership with Giorgio Tuinfort across most of his peak-era albums.
