The Story

Kayleigh Rose Amstutz (born February 19, 2000), known professionally as Chappell Roan, is an American singer-songwriter from Willard, Missouri. She signed with Atlantic Records as a teenager and released the EP School Nights in 2017 before being dropped from the label in 2020 amid restructuring. After independently releasing a series of singles, she signed with Island Records and Amusement Records and released her debut studio album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess in September 2023. The album gained massive belated traction in 2024, over a year after its release, driven by viral attention that made Roan one of the most breakout artists of that year. She writes or co-writes every song, working almost exclusively with producer and co-writer Daniel Nigro.
