The Authorship Story

Data Insight

Not one of the six members holds a writing credit on either release. All ten tracks are written by outside teams, and those teams are drawn from the top of Western pop rather than the Korean system that trained them: Ryan Tedder and Omer Fedi on the debut single, Andrew Watt and John Ryan on 'Gabriela', Justin Tranter on two, and Charlotte Aitchison, better known as Charli XCX, on one. The Hybe side shows up in production instead, where 'Hitman' Bang and Slow Rabbit appear on a track from each EP. It is a clean example of a performing group whose authorship score sits at zero by design.

Creative Fingerprint

A pure performing group: across two EPs and ten tracks, no member has a single writing credit, and the material comes entirely from outside Western pop writing teams.

The Story

Katseye is a six-member girl group based in Los Angeles, formed in 2024 through the Hybe and Geffen survival programme documented in the Netflix series Pop Star Academy. Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Manon Bannerman, Megan Skiendiel, Sophia Laforteza and Yoonchae Jeung came out of an audition process run on K-pop training lines but staged in the United States. Their debut EP SIS (Soft Is Strong) arrived in August 2024, and the follow-up Beautiful Chaos reached number 4 on the Billboard 200 in June 2025, their highest charting release. The lead single 'Gnarly' gave them their first Hot 100 entry and the group was nominated for Best New Artist at the 68th Grammy Awards.
