On her second album Underwood steps further into songwriting, co-writing four of the tracks including the singles "So Small," "All-American Girl," and "Last Name." The rest still comes from Nashville's professional writers such as Hillary Lindsey and Rivers Rutherford. Mark Bright again produced, and the album yielded a run of four No. 1 country singles.
"Carnival Ride" is the 2007 second studio album by Carrie Underwood, a country record produced primarily by Mark Bright. The album produced the singles "So Small," "All-American Girl," "Last Name," "Just a Dream," and the Randy Travis duet "I Told You So," with songwriting contributions from Hillary Lindsey, Craig Wiseman, Rivers Rutherford, and Gordie Sampson. It debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 with 527,000 copies sold in its first week, becoming Underwood's first album to top that chart. "Carnival Ride" was certified 4 times Platinum by the RIAA, and its run of four number 1 country singles made Underwood the first solo female artist since Shania Twain to achieve that feat from a single album. She won the Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance for "Last Name" and Best Country Collaboration with Vocals for "I Told You So."
