Conversation Peace was Stevie Wonder's first new studio album in five years, and he wrote and produced the entire record himself. Two tracks carry co-writers: "Treat Myself" with Stephanie Andrews and the reggae-flavored "Tomorrow Robins Will Sing" with Edley Shine of Born Jamericans. The standout was "For Your Love," a song Wonder had first sketched decades earlier, which won two Grammy Awards for Best R&B Song and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance at the 38th ceremony in 1996. The album leans heavily on Wonder's signature synthesizer textures and socially conscious themes, with the closing title track making an explicit plea for peace.
Conversation Peace is Stevie Wonder's twenty-second studio album, released in 1995 on Motown Records after an eight-year gap following Characters. The album arrived during a period when Wonder had been consumed by personal tragedy, the death of his father, health struggles, and the social upheaval following the 1992 Los Angeles riots, and its title reflects both a pun and a genuine plea for reconciliation. 'For Your Love' became the album's primary hit, and 'Tomorrow Robins Will Sing' brought an optimistic melodic grace to Wonder's late-career catalog. 'Stevie Ray Blues,' an instrumental tribute to guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan, showed Wonder's continuing reverence for blues tradition.
