Data Insight

Talk That Talk was recorded on the road during the Loud Tour, and Rihanna co-wrote several tracks while executive producing the album. It is built around the Calvin Harris-produced We Found Love, with additional production from Dr. Luke, Stargate, and The-Dream.

Talk That Talk is the seventh studio album by Rihanna, released in November 2011 on Def Jam Records, again produced primarily by Stargate, and another rapid release (her seventh album in seven years), continuing the high-tempo release strategy that maximized commercial velocity at the cost of critical narrative coherence. Rihanna co-wrote several tracks; 'We Found Love' (produced by Calvin Harris, with Harris taking his most significant production credit on a Rihanna album to date) was released as the lead single and became one of the biggest commercial songs of the year, spending ten weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and winning the Grammy for Best Dance Recording. The album's nine standard tracks represent the shortest runtime of any Rihanna studio album, reflecting a format that was increasingly approaching single-collection territory rather than album-statement territory. Talk That Talk debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 and has been certified triple platinum in the United States; 'You da One' and 'Cockiness (Love It)' were the follow-up singles. The album is generally regarded as a commercial vehicle rather than an artistic statement, and while its commercial performance was strong, it has been less critically revisited than Rated R or its successor Unapologetic.
