Data Insight

It's Your Call is an interpreter's album. Reba McEntire sings ten songs pulled from Nashville's writing rooms, so the credits belong to outside songwriters rather than to her. Her only writing appearance is 'For Herself,' co-written with Shawna Harrington-Burkhart and Liz Hengber. The signature track 'The Heart Won't Lie,' her number one duet with Vince Gill, was written by Kim Carnes and Donna Weiss, and the hit 'Take It Back' came from Kristy Jackson. Production is shared throughout by Tony Brown and McEntire herself, the one role where her name runs across the whole record.

It's Your Call is the eighteenth studio album by Reba McEntire, released on December 15, 1992 on MCA Records. Co-produced with Tony Brown, the record continues the reflective ballad-driven direction of her 1991 album For My Broken Heart while returning her to the top of the country chart. Its centerpiece is 'The Heart Won't Lie,' a duet with Vince Gill written by Kim Carnes and Donna Weiss that became a number one country single. The album debuted at number one on the Top Country Albums chart and reached number eight on the Billboard 200, selling 104,000 copies in its first week and becoming her first top ten album on the all-genre chart. It was certified triple platinum by the RIAA. McEntire is an interpreter across the record, singing songs supplied by Nashville writers, with her sole writing credit coming on 'For Herself.'
