Frequently Asked Questions Rammstein

Does Rammstein write their own songs?
Yes, and collectively. Till Lindemann, Richard Z. Kruspe, Paul Landers, Christoph Schneider and Christian Lorenz hold a writing credit on all 89 tracks across the eight studio albums, and Oliver Riedel on 88. There are almost no outside writers anywhere in the catalogue.
How many albums has Rammstein released?
Eight studio albums: Herzeleid (1995), Sehnsucht (1997), Mutter (2001), Reise, Reise (2004), Rosenrot (2005), Liebe ist für alle da (2009), the untitled 2019 album usually called Rammstein, and Zeit (2022).
Has the lineup ever changed?
No. Till Lindemann, Richard Z. Kruspe, Paul Landers, Oliver Riedel, Christoph Schneider and Christian Lorenz have been the band since 1994.
Who writes the lyrics?
Till Lindemann sings them, but the published credit names all six members together on essentially every track, so the writing is registered as a band work rather than a lyricist plus a composer.

The studio albums are in German throughout. English versions exist as bonus and single tracks, but they sit outside the album catalogue.

Sehnsucht, at roughly 3.2 million worldwide including 1.2 million in the US, where it is certified Platinum. The 2019 untitled album is the highest-certified at home, at Diamond in Germany.
What is the 2019 album called?
It is untitled. It is usually referred to as Rammstein after the band, and carries "Deutschland" and "Radio".
What is Neue Deutsche Härte?
The German genre label attached to Rammstein from the start: heavy guitars over dance-derived rhythms with German-language vocals. Their albums are the defining records of it.
