By the Numbers
This album is the soundtrack to Barbet Schroeder's 1969 film More, and it is largely Roger Waters' work. Waters wrote most of the lyrics during recording breaks and composed several of the key pieces, including 'Cirrus Minor,' 'The Nile Song' and 'Cymbaline.' Nick Mason and Richard Wright co-wrote the instrumental 'Up the Khyber.' It was the first album Pink Floyd produced themselves, recorded quickly at Pye Studios with engineer Brian Humphries.
"More" is the 1969 album by Pink Floyd, a soundtrack to Barbet Schroeder's film of the same name and the band's first full album without founding member Syd Barrett. The record moves through psychedelic rock, psychedelic folk, and avant-garde styles, with David Gilmour on guitars and vocals, Roger Waters on bass and tape effects, Richard Wright on keyboards, and Nick Mason on drums. Key tracks include "Cirrus Minor," "The Nile Song," "Green Is the Colour," and "Cymbaline," the last of which criticized the music industry. The album reached number 9 on the UK Albums Chart and number 153 on the US Billboard 200 after its 1973 American re-release. It was later certified gold in the United States and in France.
