Tragic Kingdom

Tragic Kingdom is the third studio album by No Doubt, released in October 1995 on Trauma/Interscope Records and produced by Matthew Wilder, the commercial breakthrough that made ska-pop a mainstream genre and generated 'Don't Speak,' one of the best-selling singles of the 1990s and the most-played song on US radio in 1996. Stefani and Eric Stefani wrote most of the material, though Eric left the band during production; 'Just a Girl,' 'Don't Speak,' 'Spiderwebs,' and 'Sunday Morning' were the principal singles, with 'Don't Speak' spending 16 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart. Tragic Kingdom was certified nine-times platinum in the United States and spent 64 non-consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200, with sustained chart longevity driven by the breakout success of 'Don't Speak', which arrived eight months after the album's release and sustained the commercial momentum for years. The album reached number one on the Billboard 200 in April 1996 and launched Stefani as a pop cultural figure whose public persona would eventually sustain a solo career separate from the band.
