Cuz I Love You is Lizzo's third album and her major-label breakthrough, released in April 2019 on Nice Life and Atlantic. She co-wrote and co-produced much of the record with Ricky Reed, who shaped its blend of pop, soul, and hip hop around her powerhouse vocals, with additional production from Nate Mercereau, Sweater Beats, and others. The single "Juice" set the tone with its retro funk bounce, while the Missy Elliott collaboration "Tempo" and the orchestral title track showcased her range as both a belter and a rapper. The album turned Lizzo into a mainstream star and went on to win the Grammy for Best Urban Contemporary Album.
Cuz I Love You is Lizzo's major-label debut, released 19 April 2019 on Nice Life / Atlantic Records. The album produced the No. 1 hit "Truth Hurts" and the viral single "Juice," cementing her mainstream breakthrough. Produced largely by Ricky Reed and Nate Mercereau, the album blends pop, hip-hop, and soul with a full-band warmth. "Tempo" features Missy Elliott and is co-written with her; "Exactly How I Feel" features Gucci Mane. Lizzo co-wrote all eleven tracks, often working with the X Ambassadors members Sam Harris, Casey Harris, and Adam Levin as writing partners.
