Chromatica is the fifth studio album by Lady Gaga, released in May 2020 on Interscope/Streamline Records and produced by BloodPop, Burns, and Gaga herself, a return to the electronic dance music foundations of The Fame and The Fame Monster after the rock and country pivot of Joanne, framed around a science-fiction narrative about an alien planet called Chromatica and constructed as a dance album intended to be played in its entirety as a continuous experience. Gaga wrote or co-wrote all her own material; the album's lyrical themes address mental health, trauma recovery, and perseverance, drawing on Gaga's public discussions of fibromyalgia, PTSD, and mental illness, themes that gave the dance framework an emotional specificity unusual for club-oriented pop production. 'Stupid Love' was the lead single and reached number five on the Billboard Hot 100; 'Rain on Me' (featuring Ariana Grande, co-produced by BloodPop and Tchami) reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and won the Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Chromatica debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 with 274,000 first-week units and has been certified platinum in the United States. The album was supported by a stadium tour, Chromatica Ball, that ran through 2022, and a live album recorded at Dodger Stadium was released in 2023.
