Wrapped in Red mixes Clarkson-co-written originals with covers of Christmas standards, and Greg Kurstin produced the entire album. Clarkson co-wrote the originals, including the title track 'Wrapped in Red' (with Ashley Arrison, Aben Eubanks and Shane McAnally), 'Underneath the Tree' (with Kurstin), 'Every Christmas,' 'Winter Dreams (Brandon's Song)' and '4 Carats' (with Kurstin, Cathy Dennis and Livvi Franc). The remaining tracks are interpretations of traditional carols and holiday standards. Serban Ghenea handled the mix at MixStar Studios.

Kelly Clarkson's first Christmas record and sixth album, released October 25, 2013 on RCA with Greg Kurstin producing every track. Five of the fourteen songs are new and carry her name, and the other nine are standards, so the writing credits run from Irving Berlin and Rodgers and Hammerstein to Kurstin and Aben Eubanks. Ronnie Dunn, Reba McEntire and Trisha Yearwood guest on two duets. It opened at number three on the Billboard 200 with 70,000 copies, then climbed as the season went on, spent nine weeks in the top ten and finished 2013 as the best-selling Christmas release in the United States. 'Underneath the Tree,' which Clarkson wrote with Kurstin, was American radio's most-played new holiday song that year.
