The eighth Kelly Clarkson album, released October 27, 2017 and her first for Atlantic after the RCA contract she signed as the winner of the first American Idol finally ran out. She wanted a soul and R&B record, which she says the old deal would not let her make, and wrote less of this one than usual on purpose: she has a credit on four of the fourteen tracks, having decided that writing the rest would cost her too much time at home. The Monarch, Jesse Shatkin, Mick Schultz and Nick Ruth handle most of the production, with Clarkson and Atlantic's Craig Kallman as executive producers. It opened at number two on the Billboard 200 with 79,000 album-equivalent units, went gold in the United States, and drew Grammy nominations for Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance.
