Kelly Clarkson co-wrote much of Stronger, working with a deep bench of pop writers and producers. Greg Kurstin produced and co-wrote several tracks, while longtime collaborator Jorgen Elofsson contributed to the writing alongside Ali Tamposi, David Gamson, Ester Dean and Brett James. The chart-topping 'Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)' came from Tamposi, Jorgen Elofsson, David Gamson and Greg Kurstin, and the album spreads its production across Kurstin, Rodney Jerkins, Howard Benson, Toby Gad and others.
The fifth Kelly Clarkson album, released October 21, 2011 on RCA and recorded in studios around the world while she was touring All I Ever Wanted. Her stated goal was to capture her live voice with as little auto-tune as she could get away with. Clarkson co-wrote six of the thirteen tracks, none of them the hit: 'What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger)' came from Jörgen Elofsson, Ali Tamposi, David Gamson and Greg Kurstin, and went to number one on the Hot 100. The album entered the Billboard 200 at number two on 163,000 copies, has sold about 1.13 million in the United States, and won Best Pop Vocal Album at the 55th Grammy Awards from four nominations.
