Data Insight

Fighting Demons is the second posthumous Juice WRLD album, built from his archive of recordings and centered on his improvised, freestyle lyrics about addiction and mental health. The instrumentals and finishing touches came from producers including Metro Boomin, Nick Mira, T-Minus, Dr. Luke, and Louis Bell. Guest verses from Justin Bieber, Polo G, Trippie Redd, and Suga of BTS sit on top of songwriting that stays his own.

Fighting Demons is Juice WRLD's second posthumous studio album, released December 10, 2021, through Grade A Productions and Interscope Records, nearly two years after his death in December 2019. The album was assembled from the enormous archive of recordings he left behind, estimated at thousands of unreleased tracks, and features 18 standard tracks showcasing his range across melodic trap, emo rap, and pop-leaning R&B. Metro Boomin produced the opening track 'Burn,' one of the most prominent outside producers on the project beyond Juice WRLD's core circle; Nick Mira and Sidepce handle the bulk of the remaining production. Notable collaborations include Justin Bieber on 'Wandered to LA' (produced by Louis Bell and Harv), Polo G and Trippie Redd on 'Feline,' and Suga of BTS on 'Girl of My Dreams.' Dr. Luke co-wrote and co-produced 'Not Enough,' a rare outside credit given Juice WRLD's typically tight inner circle. Eminem contributed a spoken word interlude on 'Eminem Speaks,' co-credited as a writer alongside Higgins. Fighting Demons debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, making it the second consecutive posthumous Juice WRLD album to reach the top spot. As with all of his releases, every lyricist credit reflects Juice WRLD's sole authorship, improvised freestyle in the studio without writing anything down.
