Ice Cube wrote his own raps on War & Peace Vol. 2 (The Peace Disc), the softer-themed companion to the 1998 War Disc. Production came from Ice Cube, DJ Joe Rodriguez, Dr. Dre, Carl Thompson, One Eye and T-Bone. The crossover hit 'You Can Do It,' produced by One Eye, was co-written by Cube and Mack 10 (Dedrick Rolison), while the N.W.A reunion 'Hello' brought Dr. Dre and MC Ren back alongside Cube.
Ice Cube's sixth studio album, released March 21, 2000, completing the two-part War & Peace project begun in 1998. The Peace Disc takes a noticeably smoother approach than the War Disc, featuring polished East Coast-influenced production from Chucky Thompson, Rich Nice, and Loren Hill alongside West Coast contributions from Battlecat, One Eye, and Bud'da. The album's opening track "Hello" brings together Dr. Dre and MC Ren, marking a significant reunion of former N.W.A members. The Peace Disc debuted at number three on the Billboard 200, selling 185,000 copies in its first week, and was certified gold.
