Grammy Award for Best Rap Album (2013)
Data Insight

Take Care is widely considered Drake's defining album, and he is credited as a writer across it while executive producing with 40, who shaped its moody, late-night sound. It won the Grammy for Best Rap Album and features Rihanna, Lil Wayne, The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar, and Stevie Wonder.

Take Care is the second studio album by Drake, released in November 2011 on Young Money/Cash Money/Republic Records and produced primarily by Noah '40' Shebib. It is widely regarded as Drake's finest album and one of the definitive records of the early 2010s hip-hop era, establishing the atmospheric, minimalist R&B production style known as 'Toronto sound' or 'emo rap' that shaped an entire generation of artists. Drake wrote or co-wrote all his own material; the album's lyrical focus on post-relationship introspection, celebrity anxiety, and emotional vulnerability was unprecedented in mainstream hip-hop's commercial center, and Shebib's production, built on sparse drum programming, low-end bass, and atmospheric samples, gave the emotional content an acoustic environment that matched its mood. 'Headlines,' 'Marvins Room,' 'Take Care' (featuring Rihanna), and 'Crew Love' (featuring The Weeknd) were the principal tracks; 'Take Care' won the Grammy for Best Rap Song. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 with 631,000 first-week sales, spending six weeks at the top position, and has been certified six-times platinum in the United States. Take Care introduced The Weeknd (who appears on four tracks) to a mainstream audience that had not yet encountered his own mixtapes, a collaboration that accelerated both artists' commercial trajectories.
