Bryan Adams is the singer's debut studio album, recorded after he left Sweeney Todd and signed with A&M Records at age 20. Most of the record was co-written with drummer and songwriter Jim Vallance, who also co-produced, beginning a partnership that would shape Adams' biggest songs over the next decade. The album leans on melodic rock and power pop rather than the arena anthems Adams later became known for, and it sold modestly on release. Three of the nine tracks bring in outside co-writers, including Allee Willis on "Wait and See" and Loverboy's Paul Dean on "Win Some, Lose Some."
