Doo-Wops & Hooligans is the debut studio album by Bruno Mars, released in October 2010 on Elektra/Atlantic Records and produced by The Smeezingtons (Mars, Philip Lawrence, and Ari Levine) alongside other producers. It is the album that introduced Mars as the most commercially versatile soul and pop writer of the early 2010s, able to move between reggae ('The Lazy Song'), pop-soul ballads ('Just the Way You Are'), and heartbreak anthems ('Grenade') with equal fluency. Mars wrote or co-wrote all material; 'Just the Way You Are,' 'Grenade,' 'The Lazy Song,' and 'Marry You' were the principal singles. 'Just the Way You Are' spent three weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100; 'Grenade' reached number one on the Billboard 200's accompanying chart and spent ten weeks in the top five. Doo-Wops & Hooligans debuted at number three on the Billboard 200, has been certified seven-times platinum in the United States, and generated five top-ten singles on the Billboard Hot 100, the most from a debut album in the post-Thriller era.
