Enema of the State is the third studio album by blink-182, released in June 1999 on MCA Records and produced by Jerry Finn. It is the album that made pop-punk one of the dominant genres of late 1990s commercial rock and established the band alongside Green Day and the Offspring as the primary commercial act in the genre. DeLonge and Hoppus wrote all material with contributions from new drummer Travis Barker, who had replaced Scott Raynor; 'What's My Age Again?,' 'All the Small Things,' and 'Adam's Song' were the principal singles. 'All the Small Things' spent 14 weeks at number one on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart and its music video, a parody of late 1990s boy-band aesthetics, became one of the most played videos in MTV history; 'What's My Age Again?' and 'Adam's Song' were both top-five mainstream rock singles. Enema of the State has been certified seven-times platinum in the United States and reached number nine on the Billboard 200, generating commercial performance figures that were unprecedented for pop-punk and established the genre's commercial viability for a generation of subsequent acts. The album's combination of melodic accessibility, adolescent humor, and emotional sincerity ('Adam's Song' is a meditation on adolescent isolation and suicide) gave it a broader appeal than the purely comedy-punk approach of the group's early work.
