Stone Temple Pilots formed in San Diego in 1989 and Core sold eight times platinum in 1992. Scott Weiland fronted them through five albums, left, came back, and was fired in 2013; he died two years later. Chester Bennington sang with them briefly, Jeff Gutt has since 2017, and there are eight studio albums in all.
