Data Insight

Ven Conmigo runs almost entirely on the A.B. Quintanilla and Pete Astudillo writing team, who are credited with all of the songs except three: two by Johnny Herrera and one by Juan Gabriel. Selena does not take a writing credit anywhere on the album, a clear picture of a singer interpreting material built for her by her brother and his collaborators.

Ven Conmigo is the second studio album by Selena, released in 1990 on EMI Latin. It pushed her Tejano sound toward the dance floor with cumbia, the standout being 'Baila Esta Cumbia,' and is often cited as the first Tejano album by a female act to reach gold. Nearly all of the songs were written by her brother A.B. Quintanilla with Pete Astudillo and produced by Quintanilla, with a few outside songs by Johnny Herrera and one by Juan Gabriel. The record deepened her hold on the Tejano audience and set up her commercial breakthrough.
