This Is Why was written entirely by the three-piece lineup of Hayley Williams, Taylor York, and Zac Farro, who share songwriting credit on all ten tracks. It is the band's most uniformly self-written album, with no outside co-writers, and was produced by longtime collaborator Carlos de la Garza. The record won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album, making Paramore the first female-fronted band to take that category.
Paramore's sixth album, produced by Carlos de la Garza. This Is Why returns to a more angular, post-punk influenced rock sound, drawing comparisons to Talking Heads and Wire. The title track became the band's first number-one on the Hot Hard Rock Songs chart.
