ATLiens marked the point where OutKast began producing themselves, sharing production duties with Organized Noize under the name Earthtone III (André 3000, Big Boi, and Mr. DJ). André 3000 and Big Boi continued to write all of their own verses, and the album's more spacious, futuristic and spiritual sound reflected their growing creative control. Neal Pogue handled much of the mixing, helping define the record's atmospheric tone.
