By the Numbers
The band credit stays in place for all eleven tracks, including "Sultan's Curse", which won Best Metal Performance in 2018. The album was also nominated for Best Rock Album, the first Mastodon record to get a nomination in an album category, and "Show Yourself" is their highest-charting single at number four on Mainstream Rock.
Emperor of Sand came out in March 2017 with Brendan O'Brien producing again, eight years after Crack the Skye. It sold around 43,000 copies in its first week and gave the band their only Grammy win.
