Twelve tracks, all hers alone. The album was recorded once with Jon Brion, shelved, then re-recorded with Mike Elizondo and Brian Kehew, and two Brion versions survived onto it. Two producers, two sets of sessions, and not one writing credit outside her own.
Extraordinary Machine came out on Epic and Clean Slate in October 2005 after a six year gap and two sets of sessions. It sold 1,000,000 in the United States and is certified gold.
