The Buddha of Suburbia Songwriting Credits by David Bowie

The Buddha of Suburbia is David Bowie's nineteenth studio album, released in November 1993 as the soundtrack to Hanif Kureishi's BBC television adaptation of the same name. Produced by Bowie and David Richards, the album is largely self-authored, with Bowie writing all original compositions and playing keyboards, synthesizers, guitar, and saxophones throughout. The core ensemble was deliberately minimal, multi-instrumentalist Erdal Kızılçay handled most of the remaining parts, with Mike Garson contributing piano overdubs on two tracks and Lenny Kravitz playing guitar on an alternate version of the title track. Despite positive British reviews upon release, the album was poorly promoted and peaked at just #87 on the UK Albums Chart, leaving it largely overlooked during the 1990s. Bowie later named it his personal favorite of all his albums, and critical reassessment has since positioned it as one of his most experimental and underrated works.
