Leave This Town opens up the writing to the full band and a roster of rock-radio stars, with Chris Daughtry co-writing alongside Chad Kroeger, Ryan Tedder, Jason Wade, and Adam Gontier. The band reportedly wrote close to 70 songs before narrowing the album down, and Daughtry's name sits on every track. It is a co-write record at heart, just with bigger-name collaborators than the debut, and it still debuted at No. 1.
Daughtry's second album, out in July 2009 and the first the group made as an actual band. The debut had been recorded before the band existed, with only Chris Daughtry signed to the label. They wrote close to 70 songs for this one and cut them down to 19, with co-writers including Chad Kroeger, Ryan Tedder, Jason Wade, and Adam Gontier, though several of those co-writes ended up as bonus tracks instead of album cuts. The title comes from a line in "September." It debuted at number one with 269,000 copies and had sold 1,329,000 in the US by May 2012.
