Data Insight

DaBaby opens the writer line on every track here, and the names that follow him are short lists of beatmakers rather than outside songwriters. Tahj Morgan writes wherever he produces as JetsonMade, on "Bop", "Vibez" and "Gospel", and Ross Portaro IV does the same as SethInTheKitchen on "iPhone" and "Really". Guest rappers write only on the song they rap, so Kevin Gilyard appears on "Pop Star" alone and Onika Maraj on "iPhone" alone. "Toes" is the one track shaped differently: beside Kenneth Blume the credit carries Joseph Karnes, Jared Scharff and Jeremy Ruzumna, three writers who take no verse on the record.

Kirk is DaBaby's second studio album, released on September 27, 2019 by SCMG and Interscope and named for the surname he was born with. It entered the Billboard 200 at number one, the first of his albums to top that chart, and all 13 of its tracks charted on the Billboard Hot 100. The guest list runs through Kevin Gates, Chance the Rapper, Gucci Mane, YK Osiris, Nicki Minaj, Lil Baby, Moneybagg Yo, Stunna 4 Vegas and Migos.

Frequently Asked Questions Kirk

Why is the album called Kirk?
Kirk is DaBaby's own surname. He announced the title on August 26, 2019 as a homage to it, and the cover shows him as an infant on the lap of his father, who died after the release of Baby on Baby.
Who produced Kirk?
The work is spread across a wide bench. JetsonMade produced "Bop", "Vibez" and "Gospel", SethInTheKitchen produced "iPhone" and "Really", and DJ K.i.D, Sean Da Firzt, CashMoneyAP, Kenny Beats, London on da Track, Tahj Money and Producer 20 each handled a song of their own, several of them working with a co-producer.
Which songs from Kirk charted?
All 13 tracks charted on the Billboard Hot 100. The three worked as singles were "Intro", which reached number 13, "Bop", which reached number 11, and "Vibez", which reached number 21.
Who mixed and mastered the album?
Kevin McCloskey mixed all 13 tracks, with mixing assistance from Danny Hurley throughout and from Chris West on several songs. Elton Chueng mastered the record.
Data note: Per-track writer, producer and performer credits are corroborated across the Wikipedia track listing, the Discogs standard release and Genius song pages, with MusicBrainz confirming the guest credits and the running order. MusicBrainz holds no relationship data for this release, so the production and engineering checks rest on Discogs and Genius. The stage names behind two writers on "Prolly Heard" could not be paired one to one: Genius lists Ambezza, Flip_00, DJ Clue and Myles William as the co-writers, Wikipedia lists Ernesto Shaw, Myles Moraites, Mathias Liyew and Jiseok Lee, and no source read here matches Mathias Liyew and Jiseok Lee to Ambezza and Flip_00 individually.
