From A Room: Volume 1 keeps Chris Stapleton's tight co-writing model intact: he co-wrote most of the album with Mike Henderson, his frequent partner, usually just the two of them on a song. The lone cover, 'Last Thing I Needed, First Thing This Morning,' is the only track he did not write, again the clearest exception in a catalog built on close collaborations.
From A Room: Volume 1 is the second solo studio album by Chris Stapleton, released in May 2017 as the first of a two-part set recorded at Nashville's RCA Studio A. Lean and traditional at just over half an hour, it doubles down on the rootsy country, blues, and Southern rock of his debut. Stapleton co-wrote most of the album with longtime partner Mike Henderson, with one cover in 'Last Thing I Needed, First Thing This Morning.' The single 'Broken Halos' topped the Country Airplay chart, and the album swept major awards, winning Album of the Year at the CMAs and Best Country Album at the Grammys. Certified double platinum, it confirmed that his breakthrough was no fluke.
