By the Numbers
The genre changes but the authorship does not. She writes across the record as before, and the collaborators shift to regional Mexican names rather than reggaeton ones. Edgar Barrera, who works both sides of that line, is the bridge: he is on the reggaeton albums and here too, which is why the turn sounds intentional rather than borrowed.
Esquinas is Becky G's third studio album, released in 2023 through Kemosabe, RCA and Sony Latin. Thirteen tracks that leave reggaeton for regional Mexican and mariachi, a deliberate return to the music she grew up around. It reached the top ten on both the Top Latin Albums and Regional Mexican Albums charts and number 109 on the Billboard 200.
