By the Numbers
On 4:13 Dream the music is credited to the whole band, with lyrics by Robert Smith, who co-produced the record with Keith Uddin. The album was originally planned as part of a double release, with a darker companion record that never materialized, leaving 4:13 Dream as the brighter, more pop-leaning half. Smith sequenced the album to move from upbeat songs toward heavier, gloomier closers, mirroring the band's emotional range. It marked the band's final studio album for sixteen years until Songs of a Lost World.
