Jason Evigan writes on six of the eleven tracks, more than any outsider has managed before or since. The other five are the band alone, exactly as on the first two albums, so the record splits cleanly between the way they used to work and the way they worked with Evigan.
Surrender came out in October 2021 and returned the band to number one in Australia. Its single "Alive" won the Grammy for Best Dance Recording, and the tour behind it filled Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles three nights running.
