Made in Heaven is Queen's posthumous final album, built by Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon around vocal and piano parts Freddie Mercury recorded as he was dying, then wrapped in new instrumentation. The songs are credited collectively to Queen, and several rework solo-era material, with "Too Much Love Will Kill You" carrying outside co-writers Frank Musker and Elizabeth Lamers. It is less a conventional album than three surviving members completing their singer's last performances.
Queen's fifteenth and final studio album, released November 6, 1995, four years after Freddie Mercury's death on November 24, 1991. The surviving members, Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon, assembled the album from recordings Mercury had completed in his final years, including sessions at Mountain Studios in Montreux, Switzerland, where he continued recording knowing he was terminally ill. The album opens with Mercury's recorded voice over ambient sound and closes with a reprise of that track, a hidden vocal piece 'Yeah,' and an untitled thirteenth track constructed by May, Taylor, and David Richards from studio ambience, ending with a clock striking the time Mercury died. Roger Taylor contributes 'Heaven for Everyone,' originally written for his solo project The Cross. Brian May contributes 'Too Much Love Will Kill You,' co-written with Frank Musker and Elizabeth Lamers, also originating from his solo work. John Deacon retired from music after the album's release and promotional work. The album reached number one in the UK and Germany.
