By the Numbers
Carti wrote on all 24 tracks and nobody else wrote on more than eight, because almost every writing credit on this album arrived attached to a beat. Art Dealer co-wrote seven of the tracks he produced, F1lthy six, Outtatown six, Star Boy four, and there is no outside songwriter anywhere in the credits. That keeps the pool small for a record running over an hour, and it collapses on the closer: "F33l Lik3 Dyin" samples Bon Iver's "iMi", which drags eleven writers Carti never worked with onto a song he otherwise made with two people.
Whole Lotta Red is the second studio album by Playboi Carti, released on December 25, 2020 through AWGE and Interscope Records. F1lthy and Art Dealer carry most of the production, with Pi'erre Bourne, Maaly Raw, Lil 88, Jasper Harris, Ojivolta and Wheezy filling in around them, while Kanye West and Matthew Williams are credited as executive producers. Carti recorded it around a vampire persona, and the guest list runs to three names: Kanye West on "Go2DaMoon", Kid Cudi on "M3tamorphosis" and Future on "Teen X". It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 with 100,000 album-equivalent units, the first number one album of his career, and both the RIAA and the BPI later certified it Gold.
