Limp Bizkit's debut follows the band's standard authorship convention: Fred Durst writes the lyrics while the music is credited to the band members Wes Borland, Sam Rivers, John Otto and DJ Lethal alongside Durst. Ross Robinson, who had shaped Korn's early sound, produced the record with the band, pushing the raw aggression heard on the lead single 'Counterfeit.' The album closes its identity with a cover of George Michael's 'Faith,' a hard-rock reinterpretation that became one of the band's early signatures. Andy Wallace handled the mix, lending the record a heavier commercial sheen.
