By the Numbers
Whirlwind shows Lainey Wilson's authorship at full strength: she has a writing credit on every track of the standard album, with no covers, almost always alongside her core partners Trannie Anderson and Dallas Wilson. Even the Miranda Lambert collaboration 'Good Horses' is a three-way co-write with Wilson on it. The album is the purest expression of her writing-first identity, every song carrying her pen.
Whirlwind is the fifth studio album by Lainey Wilson, released in August 2024 at the height of her success. Produced again by Jay Joyce, it deepens her neotraditional country and Southern rock sound while reflecting the dizzying pace of her breakout years. Wilson co-wrote every track on the standard album, often with longtime partners Trannie Anderson and Dallas Wilson, and shares 'Good Horses' with featured guest Miranda Lambert. The album debuted at number three on the Top Country Albums chart and number eight on the Billboard 200, and produced the singles 'Hang Tight Honey' and '4x4xU.'
