By the Numbers
Rowland is credited on two of the thirteen tracks, "(Love Lives In) Strange Places" and "Heaven". Everything else comes from writing teams brought in to make a record fast: Steve Kipner and Dane Deviller on "Stole", Rich Harrison on "Can't Nobody", Rob Fusari on two more. Solange Knowles turns up as a writer three times, which is the closest thing to a family credit on the record. This is the low-water mark of her authorship and the album that sold the most.
Simply Deep is Kelly Rowland's solo debut, released in October 2002 on Columbia and Music World while Destiny's Child were on hiatus. Recording was accelerated after "Dilemma" with Nelly went to number one, and the album was largely made in three weeks. It topped the UK Albums Chart and reached number 12 on the Billboard 200.
