Man of the Woods

Man of the Woods is the fifth studio album by Justin Timberlake, released in February 2018 on RCA Records and produced by Timbaland, Pharrell Williams, Chris Stapleton, and others, a deliberate return to American roots music, drawing on country, Southern rock, and folk production elements in a thematic exploration of Timberlake's Tennessee origins and his identity as a father. Timberlake co-wrote all material; 'Filthy,' 'Supplies,' 'Midnight Summer Jam,' and 'Say Something' (featuring Chris Stapleton) were the principal singles, with the album's country-folk hybrid approach generating mixed commercial results. The album was released immediately after a widely criticized Super Bowl halftime performance, and the combination of commercial and critical response made it the least commercially successful album of Timberlake's career in terms of streaming and reception. Man of the Woods debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 with 274,000 first-week units and has been certified gold in the United States. The album is regarded by critics as the weakest of Timberlake's catalog and the record on which the gap between his commercial ambitions and the quality of the material was most apparent.
