Whitsitt Chapel is Jelly Roll's first full country album, named after a church near his Nashville childhood home. Jelly Roll (Jason DeFord) co-wrote the songs with Nashville writers and producers including Zach Crowell and David Garcia. The album's confessional singles Need a Favor and Save Me, the latter with Lainey Wilson, became major crossover hits.
