Wings is a concept album built around Hermann Hesse's coming-of-age novel Demian, with each of the seven members given a solo track exploring temptation and growth: Jungkook's "Begin," Jimin's "Lie," V's "Stigma," Suga's "First Love," RM's "Reflection," J-Hope's "MAMA," and Jin's "Awake." Pdogg anchors the production with frequent co-writes alongside Bang Si-hyuk and the Bangtan rap line of RM, Suga, and J-Hope, who shaped the lead single "Blood Sweat & Tears." The members took authorship of their own solos, drawing on personal experience, as when Jungkook described "Begin" as the story of his journey to Seoul and meeting the group. The result balances the rappers' hip hop foundation with R&B and dance-leaning production across the full-length.
