AVICI (01) is an extended play by Avicii, released in August 2017 on PRMD / Island Records and self-produced by Avicii. Released at a time when Bergling had stepped back from live performance due to serious health issues including acute pancreatitis and emotional exhaustion from years of relentless touring, the EP marked a quieter but meaningful return to music. The three tracks ('Without You,' 'Friend of Mine,' and 'So Much Better') continued his folk-infused electronic pop sound with a more contemplative and melancholic tone that would cast a long shadow given what was to come. The EP was received warmly by fans who had worried that his health struggles might end his career prematurely. AVICI (01) is a brief but significant document of Avicii finding renewed purpose in music during one of the most difficult periods of his life.
